The Wabasso School is a Special Education public school that serves 80 students in grades PK-12. Each year we host a Christmas Party and an Easter Egg Hunt. The events are organized by Kandi Houlihan, who is pictured here after last year’s party with Santa and husband Jack Houlihan, PDDGER.
We work with each teacher at the school to determine what each child wants for Christmas. We purchase the presents with grant funds from the Elks National Foundation. We involve our members with a gift-wrapping party at the Lodge.Pictured here are Bill and Flo Synenko showing off their gift-wrapping expertise.
On the day of the Christmas Party dozens of our Lodge members attend the event where we sing Seasonal songs and provide refreshments. Pictured here is Lodge member Debbie Clement singing a holiday song to a special student.
We precede the Easter Egg Hunt with a basket-stuffing party at the Lodge which includes candy and plastic eggs. We then deliver the goods to the Wabasso School where we hide eggs on the school premises with the help of with the faculty.
Elroy The Elk makes an appearance to insure the children have a memorable experience. Pictured here is Elroy and the school Resource Officer at the Easter Egg Hunt.
Everyone lovers Elroy, especially the adults!
